All Authors: True or False!

Dear RWPP,

 

Thanks for stopping by the All Authors Blog, where we bring you all that is new (and sometimes old) in the world of Literature. Today, we're sharing with you a game of True or False.

 

 

TRUE or FALSE?

 

 

Women only read romance novels.

 

False.

 

Women read a wide array of different genres. True that we all indulge in a good romance from time to time, but that by no means is the only thing we read. Come one guys, give us more credit than that!

 

Men can't stand any sappy or romantic book.

 

False.

 

Men have been known to delight in the occasional romance novel, even though they hate to admit it. Some have even gone as far as writing a romance or two. So go ahead Big Fella, grab your beer, your cigar and your hidden copy of game!

 

The only Writers that Self/Indie Publish are those who lack the talent to get picked up by Traditional Publishers.

 

False.

 

There has been a long list of authors whom have OPTED to Self/Indie Publish their works. Not because they lacked talent, but because they chose to do it on their own (for whatever reason). Among them there are names like Mark Twain, Edgar Allen Poe, Virginia Woolf and Tom Clancy. Never underestimate the power of the Indie Author.

 

Many Indie Authors have later on in their career been picked up by Traditional Publishers?

 

True.

 

There have been many Indie Authors that have gotten noticed and picked up by Traditional Publishers. Among them are famous authors such as Rick Evans, Irma Rombaure and John Grisham. Just because an Author may have chosen to Self Publish at first, by no means implies that they will never be scouted out by big name Publishers and represented. It's all a matter of persistence and perspective.

 

An author can get published well before they become an adult.

 

True.

 

History shows us that there have been a good amount of authors that have become published in their early years. While most young authors become published in their teens there was indeed a very young child that was published. The youngest commercially published author is Dorothy Straight (born 25 May 1958), of Washington, DC, USA, who wrote published in August 1964 by Pantheon Books.

Today we present you with Unbind by Mrs. Sarah Michelle Lynch.

First a little bit about the Author:

Author Bio:

Sarah’s first job was opening a newspaper shop, when she was just seventeen. It was a good exercise in discipline, having to get up at 5a.m. on a weekend morning. Since then, she has worked all kinds of jobs including cafe assistant, student mentor and ambassador, checkout girl, bartender, shelf stacker, supply teacher and after graduating university, magazine journalist. The jobs may have come and gone but the urge to write was ALWAYS there.

Sarah is the eldest of four children and was the first person in her family in generations to go to university. She holds a degree in English from The University of Hull but it wasn’t until she began working in the media that she really got to grips with how writing could become a profession. She worked alongside various companies including Sky, Radio Times and Bauer, eventually climbing the ranks into junior management.

During a long period of maternity leave she discovered how different creative writing and professional, journalistic writing are. The decision to self-publish was not taken lightly but in May 2012, she let loose her first novel and a scifi trilogy was born. The trilogy has since been re-edited and transformed into a quadrilogy. Since then, the desire to write and explore has become viral and she has even set up her own business, helping other writers get their own words and stories out into the world.

Sarah currently lives in East Yorkshire with her husband and daughter.
